The ride today was only about 63km, but in some ways more difficult. A large portion was along roads, in order to reach Mosonmagyaróvár, which turned out to be not as exciting as the book made it sound. Fortunately, it did contain large supermarkets, so we stocked up on food. In general, navigating was a little more tricky today. For example, after Halászi, we had a bike path all along a quicker route, but as the book didn’t describe it, we had no idea how long it would last. Fortunately it held out! We helped out an English girl this morning who wanted to get through half the distance to Budapest today (she’s more ambitious than us, but then, she has been on the road now for 5 months!). It was nice to have company, and we rode together from the south side of the bridge (where she bumped into us) as far as where our paths diverged at Cunovo. It is there that those opting for the shorter, Slovakian route must head for the river. She considered the Hungarian option, but it would have added about 30km to an already long trip...
