Dinner turned out to be lunch leftovers. The village was a little quiet apart from a fish restaurant, and Birgit wasn’t up for fish.
Today was by far the hardest day yet. Bad signage, bad roads and bad diabetes sugar control problems. I wouldn’t say a bad breakfast persay, but rather just too much. Onion omelette and more onion omelette. I felt sick till lunchtime. Our overnight stay, including omelette, was a mere €24!
The Europeans, or the Hungarians (we’re not quite sure), seem to take pride in having Eurovelo route 6 not touch any busy roads, even if that means directing the unsuspecting biker along dirt paths or muddy tracks around the largest puddles. One such puddle did some serious mud damage to my shoe. A case of less haste, more speed I guess.
Apart from all the other problems, todays ride was simply LONG. 77km plus our lost-detours... We were rewarded by a lovely hotel, and cheap, local food, back in Slovakia, in Komarno.
